Assistant General Manager - Beverage and Bar Operations

About the role

A hospitality ownership group is seeking an Assistant General Manager for Beverage and Bar Operations to lead the beverage programs for two restaurant and cocktail bar concepts within a boutique hotel in Knoxville, Tennessee. The role combines beverage program ownership with regular bartending shifts and closing Manager on Duty duties.

Key responsibilities

• Develop and maintain cocktail, spirits, wine, beer and nonalcoholic beverage offerings, including seasonal menus.
• Manage beverage inventory, ordering, vendor relationships and cost controls.
• Set consistent standards for recipes, preparation, presentation, cleanliness and bar organization.
• Train and coach bartenders and service staff on product knowledge, execution and hospitality.
• Work scheduled bartending shifts and act as closing Manager on Duty about two to three times per week.
• Support service across both outlets, resolve guest concerns and oversee closing procedures.
• Partner with the Food & Beverage Director and Hotel General Manager on staffing, operations and special events.

Required profile

• Bar or beverage management experience in an upscale restaurant, cocktail bar or boutique hotel.
• Strong knowledge of craft cocktails, spirits and beverage service.
• Experience with inventory, purchasing, beverage costs and staff training.
• Calm, collaborative leadership style and willingness to support service.
• Availability to work evenings, weekends and holidays.
