Assistant Director, Marketing – Research & Innovation

About the role

The Texas A&M University System is seeking an Assistant Director of Marketing to lead communications for its Research and Innovation portfolio. This senior‑level position translates complex research initiatives into clear, audience‑focused marketing strategies that showcase the system’s impact across Texas and beyond.

Key responsibilities

• Develop and execute portfolio‑level marketing and communications plans for research, commercialization, nuclear security, AI applications and key partnerships.
• Collaborate with system leadership, university partners and external agencies to identify proof points, craft compelling narratives and prioritize target audiences.
• Oversee a marketing specialist, guiding content creation, campaign execution and performance measurement.
• Coordinate cross‑functional marketing efforts to ensure consistent messaging and brand alignment across all system entities.
• Assess campaign effectiveness and adjust strategies based on analytics and stakeholder feedback.

Required profile

• Proven experience in strategic marketing or communications within a research, higher‑education or innovation environment.
• Strong ability to simplify complex technical topics for diverse audiences.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with a track record of producing high‑impact content.
• Demonstrated leadership experience managing junior marketing staff.
