Assistant Dean, University College

About the role

The Assistant Dean provides strategic and operational leadership for bachelor’s degree programs within University College, focusing on first‑ and second‑year student success, retention, and degree completion at Prairie View A&M University.

Key responsibilities

• Support the Dean in managing the college, represent University College on committees, and lead initiatives to improve student retention, academic progression, and degree completion.
• Oversee bachelor’s degree programs in Interdisciplinary Studies, manage curriculum review, enrollment, and ensure compliance with state and institutional requirements.
• Build partnerships across academic and administrative units to align academic support, advising, mentoring, and student engagement services.
• Supervise hiring, onboarding, and performance review of program faculty and coordinate advising with the PV Cares Team.

Required profile

• Master’s degree in a relevant field and at least six years of senior administrative experience.
• Demonstrated experience in student success, academic advising, retention, enrollment management, or related areas.
• Strong written, oral, interpersonal, organizational, and presentation skills, with the ability to use data for decision‑making.
