Area Coordinator

About the role

The Area Coordinator is a full‑time, twelve‑month staff member responsible for daily operations of two residential halls at the University of Arkansas at Little Rock. The role includes leadership, policy implementation, staff supervision, and emergency response while living on campus.

Key responsibilities

• Coordinate resident check‑in/check‑out, room changes, and ensure facilities are ready for opening and closing.
• Supervise resident assistants, lobby managers, and summer staff; oversee safety, security, and training.
• Maintain accurate records, conduct key audits, and review occupancy reports.
• Serve as liaison with public safety, police, health officials, and campus personnel; handle emergency/crisis response and on‑call rotation.
• Facilitate conflict mediation, hearing officer duties, and student conduct incident reporting.
• Participate in staff training committees, recruitment, selection, and professional meetings.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution.
• 1–2 years of professional housing/residential life experience.
• Knowledge of property management or university housing processes and legal issues.
• Ability to supervise staff, maintain records, and operate a motor vehicle.

Required skills

• Knowledge of housing legal issues and trends.
• Basic counseling techniques and student group advising.
• Conflict mediation and public speaking abilities.
• Proficiency with electronic media and technology for job duties.
