Aquatics Fitness Instructor

About the role

The YMCA of Greater Boston seeks an Aquatics Fitness Instructor to lead safe, enjoyable water fitness classes for members of all skill levels. You will help build community, adapt classes to diverse needs, and promote healthy habits.

Key responsibilities

• Lead energizing, fun, and safe group water fitness classes.
• Answer participant questions and support members in achieving health goals.
• Maintain accurate class attendance records and follow YMCA policies.
• Observe and adjust instruction to accommodate participants’ abilities, health conditions, and cultural backgrounds.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in exercise science or related field (preferred).
• At least two years of experience teaching group exercise classes.
• Current certification in Group Exercise from a nationally recognized body (e.g., AEA, SCW, USWF).
• CPR/AED and First Aid certifications.

Required skills

• Group Exercise Certification (AEA, SCW, USWF).
• CPR/AED and First Aid.
• Ability to modify classes for varied health, ability, and cultural needs.
