Applications Specialist

About the role

As an Applications Specialist at APM Terminals Elizabeth, you will support the performance, reliability and continuous improvement of operational software systems across one of the busiest port complexes in North America. You will work closely with operations, IT, vendors and global stakeholders to ensure technology solutions meet safety, productivity and modernization goals.

Key responsibilities

• Support delivery of business application initiatives aligned with terminal technology strategy.
• Drive system reliability through incident resolution, root‑cause analysis and continuous improvement.
• Deploy, integrate, test and ready both existing and new OT software solutions.
• Collaborate with vendors, OEMs and system integrators for successful technology delivery.
• Resolve incidents and service requests within agreed service levels and support escalation when needed.
• Maintain, configure and replace IT/OT hardware and software while supporting change management.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in IT, Computer Science, Industrial Engineering or related field.
• 1‑3 years of end‑user support experience across software, hardware and mobile devices.
• Hands‑on experience with OT infrastructure components and operational technology systems.
• Ability to obtain or renew a TWIC card and Port Access Card for terminal access.

Required skills

• Knowledge of operational systems such as GOS, TOS, AD, MTS, OCR, SCADA, ECS.
• Understanding of cybersecurity frameworks and enterprise IT standards in OT environments.
• Strong troubleshooting and root‑cause analysis capabilities.
