Anesthesia Technician

About the role

The Anesthesia Technician supports anesthesiologists and OR staff by preparing, maintaining, and troubleshooting anesthesia equipment. Working on the Cleveland Clinic Main Campus, you will be part of a high‑performing team that ensures safe and efficient surgical procedures.

Key responsibilities

• Stock anesthesia carts and surgical suites according to the par list.
• Assist with difficult airway management by providing required equipment.
• Deliver blood samples to the lab and retrieve blood products.
• Disassemble, decontaminate, sterilize, and calibrate anesthesia equipment.
• Report equipment problems, maintain inventory, and keep the workroom organized.
• Perform Point of Care testing after competency approval.
• Transport anesthesia equipment and supplies to and from operating rooms and off‑site locations.
• Assist with patient positioning on operating tables during surgery.

Required profile

• High School Diploma or GED.
• Minimum one year of healthcare experience or completion of an accredited Medical Assistant program.
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification within the new‑hire period.
• Physical ability to walk, stand, lift equipment (up to 20 lb) and maneuver heavier items (up to 150 lb).

Required skills

• Sterilization, cleaning, assembly, calibration, and troubleshooting of anesthesia equipment.
• Point of Care testing procedures.
• Inventory management and supply requisition.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
• Knowledge of medical terminology.
