Anesthesia Technician

About the role

The Anesthesia Technician provides essential support to anesthesia providers before, during, and after surgical procedures at Lehigh Valley Health Network. This onsite position involves equipment preparation, maintenance, and point‑of‑care testing to ensure safe and efficient patient care.

Key responsibilities

• Perform basic laboratory point‑of‑care tests such as arterial blood gas, coagulation, glucose, electrolytes, and hemoglobin.
• Set up supplies and assist with placement of arterial lines, central lines, epidural catheters, and spinal anesthetics.
• Clean, maintain, troubleshoot, and perform preventative maintenance on anesthesia equipment.
• Document damaged equipment, report problems, and manage equipment distribution for decontamination.
• Transport anesthesia equipment and supply carts to off‑site locations as needed.

Required profile

• High School Diploma/GED with less than 1 year of experience.
• Ability to think critically and triage tasks in high‑stress situations.
• Knowledge of medical terminology, sterile techniques, patient rights, and HIPAA regulations.
• Basic Life Support certification (American Heart Association) required upon hire.

Required skills

• Point‑of‑care testing (ABG, coagulation, glucose, electrolytes, hemoglobin).
• Equipment setup, cleaning, maintenance, and troubleshooting.
• Certification: Cer.A.T. (Certified Anesthesia Technician) – preferred.
• Certification: ASATT – preferred.
