Analyst - Loan Portfolio Pricing

About the role

This is an entry-level, high-profile analyst role within a high-impact team at AB CarVal, an alternative investment manager and part of AllianceBernstein's Private Alternatives business. The analyst supports commercial decisions on pricing both performing and non-performing loan portfolio opportunities, working with analytics professionals, investment advisors and senior stakeholders. The position reports to the Loan Portfolio Director and is based in Minneapolis, Minnesota.

Key responsibilities

• Work with analytics and trading professionals to develop and maintain cashflow models supporting debt and structured product purchase pricing decisions.
• Collaborate with investment advisors to understand the value and risks of new investment opportunities during underwriting.
• Carry out performance analysis and reporting for portfolios and investors.
• The role may cover loan portfolio investments across the global team but is primarily focused on the US.

Required profile

• Undergraduate degree in Finance, Economics, Mathematics or a related discipline.
• 1+ years of experience in transactional finance, structured credit, corporate finance, financial analysis, statistics, analytics or related fields.
• History of achievement and strong work ethic; highly analytical and creative, with a strong commercial orientation.
• Curiosity about capital markets, trading and analytics, and ability to learn core business concepts and deliver from a strategic view.
• Interpersonal skills, able to work independently and self-motivated.
• Willingness to work extended hours occasionally due to deal activity and to travel as needed, though travel is expected to be limited.
• Preferred: experience in financial services, loan portfolio analysis, consumer loans, and experience with financial or economic modelling.

Required skills

• Preferred: some proficiency with Excel, Intex, SAS, Python, Snowflake and Looker; training and on-the-job learning will be provided.
• CFA (complete or in process) preferred.

What we offer

• Base salary range of $120,000 to $150,000, varying with education, training, experience and performance.
