AmeriCorps Field Education Service Member

About the role

AmeriCorps members engage with the Jackson community to improve STEM literacy and support out‑of‑school programs. The position combines field teaching, capacity‑building projects, and personal development over a 450‑hour term.

Key responsibilities

• Develop personal STEM literacy and educational pedagogy while learning natural history of the Greater Yellowstone Ecosystem.
• Assist local non‑profits in expanding services through capacity‑building projects (40% of time).
• Support and lead place‑based, hands‑on field science curriculum, evening programs, and participant safety management (40% of time).
• Complete AmeriCorps service requirements, attend trainings, and contribute to campus operations (10% of time).

Required profile

• At least 21 years old, high school diploma or equivalent, U.S. citizen or permanent resident.
• Pass criminal background, driving record review, and drug screening; hold a valid Class C driver’s license.
• Commitment to diversity, inclusion, and flexible, non‑traditional work weeks.
• Interest or background in education, outdoor science, or related fields.

Required skills

• Adult & Child First Aid, CPR, AED certification.
• Valid Class C Driving License and ability to drive passenger vans, canoe trailers, and mini‑buses.

• Room and board on the Jackson campus.
• Living allowance of $125 per week during the service term.
