Ambulatory Nurse Manager

About the role

The Ambulatory Nurse Manager is a Registered Nurse (RN) who manages the day-to-day operations of the ambulatory clinic at Stony Brook Internists, UFPC, working closely with the Department Administrator to set up policies and procedures for smooth outpatient care. The position is full time, Monday to Friday, 8:30 AM to 5 PM, in Lake Grove, NY.

Key responsibilities

• Supervise staff at the ambulatory care site.
• Work with the Department Administrator on human resources tasks such as recruitment, training, staff development, performance evaluations, performance improvement plans, clinical competencies and re-certifications.
• Triage patient phone calls and review lab reports, reporting abnormal results to physicians.
• Manage the clinic's operations, including patient statistics, room utilization and standardized procedures, while following DOH, JCAHO, HIPAA and OSHA standards.
• Update policies and procedures, run quality improvement projects and attend meetings and training.
• Provide nursing assistance to physicians and physician assistants, perform post-operative care and suture removal, and act as liaison between physicians, staff and patients.
• Follow up on problems reported by staff, physicians and patients, prepare reports on fiscal, operational or patient-care issues, and represent the department on committees such as the Ambulatory Care Committee.

Required profile

• Bachelor's degree in Nursing.
• RN licensed to practice in New York State.
• Five years of RN experience, including at least three years of supervisory or administrative experience.
• Excellent organizational and communication skills.

Preferred qualifications

• Advanced nursing degree.
• Experience with triage.
• Knowledge of JCAHO and HIPAA standards.
