Air Conditioning Instructor – Technical & Training

About the role

The Air Conditioning Instructor will deliver theory and hands‑on training for the Air Conditioning Technology program at West Georgia Technical College. The position supports day, evening and online formats for traditional and dual‑enrolled students, ensuring alignment with state academic standards.

Key responsibilities

• Provide face‑to‑face, hybrid or online instruction in classroom and lab environments that simulate industry conditions.
• Evaluate student progress, grade coursework promptly, and maintain program accreditation documentation.
• Ensure safety compliance in labs, maintain equipment, and recommend technology upgrades.
• Develop curriculum, lesson plans, and program learning outcomes in collaboration with faculty.
• Prepare budget requests, order HVAC supplies, and support recruitment, retention, and job placement efforts.
• Participate in committees, professional development, and other duties as assigned.

Required profile

• Diploma in Air Conditioning Technology (or related field) from an accredited institution.
• Three years of recent field experience (within the past five years) and EPA 608 certification.
• Valid driver’s license and optional industry certifications (HVAC Excellence, NATE, RES, GCILB Conditioned Air).
• Associate degree in Air Conditioning Technology or related field is preferred.
• Prior post‑secondary teaching experience, including online instruction.
• Proficiency with internet, email, Microsoft Office, KMS, Blackboard, Banner, Degree Works, and Task Stream.
