Advanced Respiratory Therapist

About the role

AdventHealth is hiring an Advanced Respiratory Therapist for its Zephyrhills facility in Florida. The role provides respiratory care to patients and works closely with physicians and other team members, with a day shift schedule.

Key responsibilities

• Provide respiratory care including aerosolized medications, oxygen therapy and ventilation
• Draw, analyze and report blood gas results, following regulatory requirements for quality control and analyzer maintenance
• Respond to rapid response and code blue situations, performing CPR as needed
• Manage invasive and non-invasive ventilators and document changes
• Assist with bedside bronchoscopy and manage non-invasive Bi-level and end-tidal CO2 capnography
• Perform respiratory therapy treatments and procedures per physician orders and department protocols
• Take part in interdisciplinary rounds and assist with clinical instruction and mentoring of lower-level therapists
• Act as shift lead when assigned: review workload, make staff assignments and ensure tasks are completed
• Identify and implement cost-control methods while maintaining patient care quality
• Complete and document ECGs and report errors and inefficiencies to management

Required profile

• Technical/vocational school training in a respiratory therapy program before licensure, or licensed before graduation
• At least 1 year of critical care experience
• At least 3 years of respiratory care experience
• State certification as a Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT)
• NBRC certification as RRT
• Basic Life Support (CPR) certification
• Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP) certification
• Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) preferred

The pay range is $28.97 to $53.88. The position is subject to a Florida Level 2 background screening, including fingerprinting, as required by state law.
