Advanced Practice RN – Medical Oncology (Per Diem)

About the role

The Advanced Practice Provider (APP) delivers comprehensive oncology care to patients in both acute and outpatient settings across Plantation and SoLeMia locations. Working independently and collaboratively, the APP performs examinations, prescribes treatments, and guides patients through disease management and survivorship.

Key responsibilities

• Perform complete physical examinations, obtain comprehensive health histories, and document findings.
• Order, interpret, and act on diagnostic and therapeutic tests appropriate to patient age and condition.
• Prescribe pharmacologic and non‑pharmacologic treatment plans, including chemotherapy and immunotherapy.
• Provide infusion/chemotherapy coverage, including on‑call, weekend, and cross‑coverage duties.
• Educate patients and families about disease processes, treatment options, side effects, and discharge planning.
• Collaborate with physicians, pharmacists, and multidisciplinary teams to ensure coordinated care and appropriate referrals.
• Participate in quality improvement, data collection, and unit council activities.
• Mentor APP students, fellows, and nursing staff, and serve as a role model for clinical practice.

Required profile

• Master’s degree in Nursing (MSN) or Physician Assistant (MPA) and Florida APRN or PA license.
• Board certification as APRN (ANCC or AANP) or PA (NCCPA).
• Minimum two years of advanced practice experience, preferably in hematology/oncology, acute care, or ICU.
• Current BLS and ACLS certifications; CITI training within three months of hire.

Required skills

• Prescribing medications and ordering diagnostic tests.
• Administration of chemotherapy and infusion therapies.
• BLS and ACLS certification.
• CITI certification.
• Chemotherapy/Immunotherapy certification (renewed every two years).
