Advanced Practice Provider (NP/PA/CNS) Epilepsy Nights – PRN Coverage

About the role

The Cleveland Clinic Epilepsy Department seeks an experienced Advanced Practice Provider (NP, PA, or CNS) for PRN night coverage in the inpatient EMU, PMU, and consult services. This position supports patient care during variable night shifts (7 PM – 7 AM).

Key responsibilities

• Obtain comprehensive medical histories, perform physical examinations, and order appropriate diagnostic tests.
• Interpret laboratory, radiology, cardiographic, and other routine diagnostic results to develop treatment plans.
• Prescribe and monitor medications in accordance with state licensure and Cleveland Clinic policies.
• Educate patients about their condition, treatments, and medication side effects.
• Participate in multidisciplinary rounds and coordinate care with nursing, physicians, and other team members.
• Assist with discharge planning, length‑of‑stay management, and regulatory compliance.

Required profile

• Current licensure as a Nurse Practitioner, Physician Assistant, or Clinical Nurse Specialist in the applicable state(s).
• Graduate of an accredited APRN or PA program with a master’s degree (or equivalent).
• National certification for the respective role (NP, PA, or CNS) and credentialing by the Medical Executive Committee.
• Basic Life Support certification; Advanced Cardiac Life Support, Pediatric Advanced Life Support, Neonatal Resuscitation, or Advanced Trauma Life Support as required by the work setting.

Required skills

• Ability to perform and interpret common laboratory, radiologic, and cardiographic procedures.
• Prescribing authority and medication management within state and institutional guidelines.
• Proficiency in patient education and interdisciplinary communication.
• Knowledge of epilepsy care, EMU/PMU operations, and inpatient consult services.
