Advanced Practice Provider (NP/PA) – Orthopaedic Surgery

About the role

The Cleveland Clinic Health System is expanding its orthopaedic surgery team at Indian River Hospital. We are seeking a nationally certified Advanced Practice Provider (Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant) to deliver high‑quality patient care in both the operating room and clinic settings.

Key responsibilities

• Serve as first assist in the operating room for orthopaedic procedures.
• Perform clinic procedures such as joint injections, aspirations, and provide pre‑ and post‑operative care.
• Conduct hospital consultations, attend multidisciplinary rounds, and participate in an on‑call rotation.
• Document medical histories, perform physical examinations, order and interpret lab and imaging studies, and develop treatment plans.
• Prescribe and monitor medications in accordance with state licensing and Cleveland Clinic policies.

Required profile

• Current licensure as a Nurse Practitioner (RN) or Physician Assistant in the applicable state(s).
• National certification (NP or PA) and Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
• Graduate of an accredited APRN or A.R.C. approved PA program; Master’s degree required for APRNs.
• Ability to work collaboratively with physicians, nurses, and the broader health‑care team.
• Willingness to participate in quality monitoring, education of patients, and professional development activities.

Required skills

• OR first‑assist techniques for orthopaedic surgery.
• Joint injection and aspiration procedures.
• Pre‑ and post‑operative patient management.
• Interpretation of laboratory, radiologic, and cardiographic diagnostic tests.
• Prescribing authority and medication management.
• Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS), Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) or Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP) as required by the work setting.
