Advanced Practice Provider (NP/PA) – Hospital Medicine PRN

About the role

The Cleveland Clinic Health System is seeking a nationally certified Advanced Practice Provider (Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant) to deliver high‑acuity hospital medicine care at Mentor Hospital on a PRN (as‑needed) basis.

Key responsibilities

• Obtain comprehensive histories, perform physical examinations, and develop working diagnoses and treatment plans.
• Order, interpret, and act on laboratory, radiology, and other diagnostic tests.
• Perform routine and specialized procedures such as injections, suturing, wound care, bone‑marrow aspiration, biopsies, IV starts, spinal taps, thoracentesis, and paracentesis.
• Prescribe and monitor medications within state and CCF prescriptive authority.
• Participate in multidisciplinary rounds, discharge planning, and quality monitoring.
• Serve as a clinical preceptor or faculty for students and new employees.

Required profile

• Post‑graduate experience in hospital medicine; APRN must hold an MSN (or obtain within 3 years) or PA must have a Master’s in Physician Assistant Studies.
• Current state licensure as RN/APRN or PA, with national certification (e.g., NCCPA for PA, accredited nursing board for APRN).
• Basic Life Support certification; Advanced Cardiac Life Support, Pediatric Advanced Life Support, or Neonatal Resuscitation Program as required by the work setting.

Required skills

• Proficiency in performing and interpreting common laboratory, radiologic, and cardiographic studies.
• Ability to conduct invasive procedures: bone‑marrow aspiration, biopsies, IV insertion, spinal tap, thoracentesis, paracentesis.
• Prescriptive authority knowledge and compliance with CCF Credentialing Board privileges.
