Advanced Practice Provider (NP/PA) – Hospital Medicine Night Shift

About the role

The Department of Hospital Medicine at Cleveland Clinic Main Campus seeks a qualified Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant to provide night coverage for admitted patients. This 15‑hour night shift (4:30 pm‑7:30 am) involves admissions, in‑person evaluations, and cross‑coverage support.

Key responsibilities

• Conduct comprehensive medical histories, physical examinations, and order appropriate diagnostic tests.
• Perform routine procedures such as injections, suturing, wound care, and assist with more complex interventions.
• Prescribe and monitor medications within state and Cleveland Clinic policy.
• Participate in medical team rounds, collaborate with physicians, nurses, and other staff to ensure quality patient care.
• Provide patient education on disease management, preventive health, and treatment plans.

Required profile

• Current licensure as a Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant in the applicable state.
• National certification for the respective role (NP or PA) and Basic Life Support certification.
• At least 1 year of inpatient experience preferred; new graduates are encouraged to apply.
• Ability to work nights, weekends, holidays and be on call as needed.

Required skills

• Basic Life Support (BLS) and Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) or Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) certification.
• Proficiency in performing procedures: bone marrow aspiration, biopsies, IV starts, spinal taps, thoracentesis, paracentesis.
• Ability to interpret laboratory, radiologic, and cardiographic results.
• Prescriptive authority according to state board and Cleveland Clinic policy.
