Advanced Practice Provider (NP/PA) – Head and Neck

About the role

The Indian River Hospital ENT team seeks a certified Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant to provide comprehensive otolaryngology care across the operating room, clinic, and inpatient settings. This hybrid position involves direct patient management, procedural assistance, and collaborative care.

Key responsibilities

• Obtain histories, perform physical exams, and order imaging or labs to diagnose and manage ENT conditions.
• Serve as first assist in the operating room and perform qualified procedures such as injections, suturing, bone‑marrow aspiration, biopsies, IV starts, spinal taps, thoracentesis, and paracentesis.
• Coordinate discharge planning, follow‑up care, home health, and medication management.
• Participate in interdisciplinary rounds, educate patients on disease and preventive health, and contribute to quality monitoring and research follow‑up.

Required profile

• Nationally certified APRN (MSN) or PA (ARC‑approved program) with active state licensure.
• Experience in ENT or surgical settings preferred.
• Ability to work collaboratively with physicians and multidisciplinary teams.
• Commitment to patient education, quality improvement, and regulatory compliance.

Required skills

• Clinical assessment: history taking, physical examination, ordering and interpreting diagnostic tests.
• Procedural skills: injections, immunizations, suturing, wound care, bone‑marrow aspiration, biopsies, IV insertion, spinal taps, thoracentesis, paracentesis.
• Prescriptive authority as permitted by state board and CCF policy.
• Electronic health record documentation and discharge planning.
