Advanced Practice Provider (NP/PA) – Gastroenterology

About the role

The Cleveland Clinic Health System is seeking a team‑oriented Advanced Practice Provider (Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant) to join the Vero Gastroenterology team at Indian River Hospital, providing outpatient and intermittent inpatient GI care.

Key responsibilities

• Obtain comprehensive medical histories, perform physical examinations, and order/interpret laboratory, radiology, and other diagnostic tests.
• Assist with rounds, new consults, and manage both simple and complex GI conditions, including life‑threatening situations.
• Perform specialized procedures such as PEG tube exchange and other therapeutic interventions as directed.
• Prescribe and monitor medications within state and Cleveland Clinic prescribing authority.

Required profile

• Current licensure as a Nurse Practitioner (with RN license) or Physician Assistant in the applicable state.
• Graduate of an accredited APRN or A.R.C. approved PA program; MSN required within 3 years of hire for APRNs.
• National certification (NP or PA) and Basic Life Support certification; ACLS, PALS, NRP, or ATLS may be required based on setting.
• Credentialed and privileged by the Medical Executive Committee and governing body of the hospital.

Required skills

• Interpretation of common laboratory and radiologic results.
• Performance of PEG tube exchange and other GI‑related procedures.
• Prescribing authority and medication management.
• Collaboration with supervising physicians and multidisciplinary teams.
