Advanced Practice Provider – Night Shift Medicine

About the role

The Cleveland Clinic Health System is seeking a full‑time Advanced Practice Provider (Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant) to join the nocturnal medicine team at Lutheran Hospital. This night‑shift position provides primary and specialty care for patients admitted to internal medicine, surgery, orthopedics and neurosurgery services.

Key responsibilities

• Perform overnight admissions, discharges, in‑person evaluations and provide nursing cross‑coverage support.
• Conduct comprehensive histories, physical exams, order and interpret labs, imaging and other diagnostic tests.
• Prescribe and monitor medications within scope of licensure and Cleveland Clinic policies.
• Educate patients on disease processes, treatments and medication safety.
• Participate in multidisciplinary rounds and coordinate continuity of care.

Required profile

• Current state licensure as a Nurse Practitioner (or RN) and national NP certification.
• MSN degree required upon hire or within three years of hire.
• At least 1 year of inpatient experience preferred; new graduates are encouraged to apply.
• Ability to work independently in a high‑stress, fast‑paced environment.

Required skills

• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
• Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) or Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) – as required by the service area.
• Proficiency with electronic medical record systems.
