Advanced Practice Provider – Neurosurgery (Acute Care NP/PA)

About the role

The Advanced Practice Provider (APP) will join the neurosurgical team at Florida Weston Hospital, delivering comprehensive care to complex neurological patients in both inpatient and outpatient settings.

Key responsibilities

• Perform admissions, histories, physicals, discharges, consultations, triage and emergency response for in‑patient neurosurgery patients.
• Execute procedural duties such as suturing, staple placement/removal, drain removal, shunt adjustments and serve as first assist in the operating room.
• Manage outpatient clinic visits for new, established and postoperative patients, including patient education and care coordination.
• Participate in multidisciplinary rounds, quality improvement initiatives, research or educational projects as appropriate.

Required profile

• Nationally certified Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant, licensed in the applicable state(s).
• Strong clinical judgment, able to work independently and collaboratively in acute‑care and outpatient environments.
• Willingness to develop procedural and surgical first‑assist skills.
• Newly licensed candidates are welcome.

Required skills

• Suturing, staple placement/removal, drain removal, shunt adjustments.
• First‑assist experience in the operating room.
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
• Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) or Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS); Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP) or Advanced Trauma Life Support (ATLS) as required by setting.
