Advanced Practice Provider – Inpatient Cardiology II

About the role

The Cleveland Clinic Health System seeks an experienced Advanced Practice Provider (APRN or PA) to join the Cardiology team at Indian River Hospital. The role involves inpatient rounding, stress testing, and occasional outpatient clinic care.

Key responsibilities

• Conduct thorough medical histories, physical examinations, and order/interpret labs, radiology, and cardiographic studies.
• Perform routine procedures such as injections, immunizations, suturing, wound care, and assist with more complex interventions.
• Execute specialized procedures including bone marrow aspiration, biopsies, IV starts, spinal taps, thoracentesis, and paracentesis as authorized.
• Prescribe and monitor medications within state and CCF prescriptive authority.
• Participate in multidisciplinary rounds, discharge planning, and quality monitoring.
• Serve as a preceptor for students and assist with onboarding new staff.

Required profile

• Current licensure as a Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant in the applicable state.
• Graduate of an accredited APRN or A.R.C. approved PA program; MSN or Master’s degree required.
• National certification (NP, PA) and BLS certification; ACLS, PALS or NRP as required by the work setting.
• Experience in cardiology or related inpatient care preferred.

Required skills

• Stress testing and interpretation of cardiographic data.
• Laboratory, radiology, and cardiac diagnostic test interpretation.
• Procedural skills: injections, immunizations, suturing, wound care, bone marrow aspiration, biopsies, IV insertion, spinal tap, thoracentesis, paracentesis.
• Medication prescribing and monitoring within state regulations.
