Advanced Practice Provider – General Surgery II

About the role

The Cleveland Clinic Health System is seeking a motivated Advanced Practice Provider (either a Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant) to join the Inpatient General Surgery team at Indian River Hospital. The APP will collaborate closely with General Surgeons to deliver high‑quality care to surgical patients.

Key responsibilities

• Round on inpatient consults and perform post‑operative follow‑ups.
• Manage patient admissions, discharges, and develop comprehensive care plans.
• Assist as first assistant in the operating room.
• Participate in night, weekend, and holiday on‑call rotations shared among team members.
• Conduct thorough medical histories, physical examinations, and order appropriate diagnostic tests.

Required profile

• Nationally certified and licensed as a Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant.
• Graduate of an accredited APRN or PA program with a master’s degree.
• Ability to work collaboratively with physicians and multidisciplinary teams.
• Licensed in the state of Florida and authorized to prescribe/monitor medications as permitted.

Required skills

• Suturing, wound care, injections, and immunizations.
• Bone marrow aspiration, biopsies, blood draws, and designated IV starts.
• Spinal taps, thoracentesis, and paracentesis.
• First‑assist in surgical procedures.
• Interpretation of routine laboratory, radiology, and cardiographic results.
