Advanced Practice Provider – General Neurology Outpatient

About the role

The Advanced Practice Provider (NP/PA) will join the General Neurology Outpatient team at Indian River Hospital. This full‑time, days‑only position (8 am‑5 pm, M‑F) provides direct patient care for new and established neurology patients.

Key responsibilities

• Obtain comprehensive histories, perform physical examinations, and order/interpret laboratory, radiology, and other diagnostic tests.
• Perform routine procedures such as injections, immunizations, suturing, wound care, bone‑marrow aspirations, biopsies, IV starts, spinal taps, thoracentesis, and paracentesis.
• Prescribe and monitor medications within state and CCF prescriptive authority.
• Educate patients on disease management, preventive health, and medication side effects.
• Participate in multidisciplinary team rounds, referrals, discharge planning, and quality monitoring.

Required profile

• Current licensure as an APRN (RN + APRN) or PA‑C in the state of Florida.
• National certification (CCRN, NCCPA, or equivalent) and BLS certification; ACLS or PALS as required by the practice setting.
• Master’s degree required for neonatal care service area; otherwise a graduate degree in nursing or a related field.
• Ability to work collaboratively with a supervising physician and multidisciplinary teams.

Required skills

• Interpretation of common laboratory, radiologic, and cardiographic results.
• Procedural skills: injections, immunizations, suturing, wound care, bone‑marrow aspiration, biopsies, IV insertion, spinal tap, thoracentesis, paracentesis.
• Medication prescribing and monitoring within state regulations.
• Use of electronic health record systems for documentation and order entry.
