Advance Practice Provider (NP/PA) – Inpatient Surgical

About the role

The Cleveland Clinic Health System is seeking a full‑time Advanced Practice Provider (Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant) to join the surgical team at Avon Hospital. This peri‑operative position provides floor coverage for multispecialty surgical patients and assists in the operating room across multiple subspecialties.

Key responsibilities

• Conduct comprehensive medical histories, physical examinations, and order appropriate diagnostic tests.
• Provide daily rounding, surgical admissions, consults, bedside procedures, and first‑assist in the OR.
• Collaborate with surgeons, nursing, and other healthcare professionals to ensure high‑quality patient care.
• Prescribe and monitor medications within scope of licensure and hospital policies.
• Participate in quality monitoring, discharge planning, and regulatory compliance.

Required profile

• Current licensure as a Nurse Practitioner (RN license required) or Physician Assistant in the applicable state(s).
• Minimum one year of experience in a high‑volume hospital surgical practice; new graduates with a surgical rotation are also considered.
• Current BLS certification; ACLS, PALS, NRP, or ATLS as required by the specific work setting.
• DEA registration and ability to obtain physician supervision agreement.

Required skills

• Experience with EPIC electronic health record system (preferred).
• Ability to perform and interpret routine laboratory, radiologic, and cardiographic studies as credentialed.
