Adult Education ESL Instructor (Part‑Time)

About the role

The State of Georgia, through West Georgia Technical College, seeks a part‑time Adult Education ESL Instructor to deliver English as a Second Language instruction to adult learners. The role involves lesson planning, student assessment, and maintaining classroom records.

Key responsibilities

• Teach ESL classes covering reading, writing, speaking, and listening, using standards‑based lessons and, when needed, online delivery via Blackboard (approximately 60% of time).
• Develop targeted instruction based on pre‑test scores, create student learning plans, and prepare students for post‑testing (about 20%).
• Maintain attendance and assessment records, submit daily data, and document student progress in GALIS (approximately 5%).
• Communicate testing needs with staff, review test scores, and support student retention activities (approximately 10%).

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree (or equivalent experience) and at least two years of related work experience.
• Ability to create lesson plans aligned with English Language Proficiency Standards and to evaluate student progress.

Required skills

• Proficiency with Blackboard learning management system.
• Strong computer, oral and written communication, and record‑keeping skills.
