About the role
The Administrative Secretary serves as the primary coordinator for the Director of the Diagnostic Imaging Service, supporting both the VA Puget Sound Health Care System and the Department of Radiology at the University of Washington. This position ensures smooth office operations and effective communication across the two institutions.
Key responsibilities
- Manage daily office activities, including scheduling, correspondence, and record keeping.
- Handle incoming calls and direct inquiries with professionalism and tact.
- Prepare and distribute letters, memos, and reports for the Director.
- Maintain organized files and electronic records, ensuring confidentiality and compliance.
- Coordinate administrative tasks between the VA and the University of Washington radiology department.
- Utilize Outlook and Microsoft Office applications to support workflow.
Required profile
- One year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS‑05 level, performing clerical and administrative duties in an office environment.
- Demonstrated ability to communicate courteously with customers and staff.
- Experience preparing correspondence, maintaining files, and using standard office software.
- Eligibility to meet time‑in‑grade requirements for a GS‑06 position.
Required skills
- Proficiency with Microsoft Outlook.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
