Adjunct Instructor – Medical Assisting

About the role

The State of Georgia seeks an Adjunct Instructor to teach Medical Assisting courses within the Allied Health department. This position supports the mission of post‑secondary vocational education by delivering high‑quality classroom, laboratory, and online instruction.

Key responsibilities

• Teach medical assisting courses at any college location, including day and evening classes.
• Prepare lesson plans, develop curriculum, syllabi, goals, and objectives for classroom, lab, and online formats.
• Evaluate student progress and maintain required documentation and administrative reports.
• Participate in professional development, recruitment, retention, and job placement activities.
• Serve on committees, manage projects, and perform other duties as assigned.

Required profile

• Diploma in Medical Assisting from an accredited college or university.
• Minimum three (3) years of recent experience in patient care or teaching.
• Current RMA (AMT) or CMA (AAMA) certification, or eligibility for certification.
• Preferred: Associate’s degree, 160+ hours in ambulatory healthcare, one (1) year of post‑secondary teaching experience, and credentialing in good standing.
