About the role

Columbia-Greene Community College is hiring adjunct faculty to teach in its Prison Education Program. Instructors from any discipline will deliver in-person courses at New York State Department of Corrections and Community Supervision (DOCCS) and Office of Children and Family Services (OCFS) facilities. The role emphasizes student success, social justice, inclusive teaching and academic excellence for justice-impacted learners.

Key responsibilities

  • Conduct in-person classes through the Prison Education Program at DOCCS and OCFS facilities.
  • Deliver curriculum and assessments aligned with departmental needs, enrollment levels, and instructor qualifications.

Required profile

  • Hold a master’s degree in the teaching discipline or a closely related field (generally required).
  • Meet any additional subject-specific qualifications required by accreditation standards.
  • Pass a comprehensive background check, fingerprinting, and TB test for assignments in DOCCS or OCFS facilities.
  • Complete volunteer training with the Office of Volunteer Services before teaching at a DOCCS location.
