Acute Neuro Nurse Supervisor – Nights

About the role

The Acute Neuro Nurse Supervisor works the night shift to provide direct patient care and supervise a team of nurses and technicians in an acute neuro unit. This role combines hands‑on clinical duties with leadership responsibilities to ensure high‑quality, safe care.

Key responsibilities

• Administer medications, start IVs, and coordinate patient discharges with the healthcare team.
• Organize, plan, and supervise coordinated patient care within the unit.
• Develop, evaluate, and mentor assigned staff nurses and patient care technicians.
• Promote evidence‑based nursing protocols and clinical practice guidelines.
• Manage staffing, scheduling, and resource allocation to support daily operations.
• Collaborate with quality, safety, and patient experience leadership to uphold standards.

Required profile

• Graduate of an accredited nursing program; BSN required for Ochsner Magnet facilities.
• Current RN license in the state of practice (or LPN with 2 years acute care experience).
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification from the American Heart Association.
• Minimum 1 year of relevant RN experience or 2 years LPN experience in acute care.

Required skills

• Medication administration and IV insertion.
• Basic Life Support (BLS) competency.
• Proficiency with computer software and web‑based applications for clinical documentation.
• Ability to assess patient needs and implement appropriate nursing interventions.
