Acute Dialysis RN - Part Time Evening Shifts

About the role

UT Southwestern Medical Center in Dallas is hiring an Acute Dialysis Registered Nurse (RN) for part-time evening shifts of 2 to 12 hours. The nurse provides acute hemodialysis therapy, independently assessing, initiating, monitoring and terminating treatment in an acute hospital setting, under the direction of the medical director and in line with physician orders and applicable regulations.

Key responsibilities

• Provide the appropriate treatment technique for assigned patients and assess their response to therapy, adjusting the treatment plan as needed
• Implement, administer, monitor and document intradialytic transfusions and report adverse reactions to the physician
• Coordinate with physicians and staff to adjust and coordinate the patient care plan
• Record physician orders and treatment information accurately in the patient record
• Clean and disinfect dialysis machines, chairs and equipment between treatments, and run pre-treatment alarm and quality assurance tests
• Prepare supplies and equipment efficiently and operate hospital equipment safely
• Maintain a safe, clean working environment and follow company policies and procedures

Required profile

• Graduate of an accredited nursing program (Texas BON 217.1)
• At least one year of experience in acute care hemodialysis, critical care or peritoneal dialysis
• RN license upon hire; BLS and ACLS certification upon hire
• Preferred: BSN, two years of experience, and Certified Nephrology Nurse certification
• Ability to read, write and communicate in English, and to perform math calculations
• Able to stand for long periods, lift and turn patients, and handle equipment weighing over 200 lbs
