ACT Instructor – Birmingham

About the role

The ACT Instructor will deliver engaging, student‑centered ACT preparation to high‑school students in Birmingham City Schools, following CAMP’s curriculum and resources. The role focuses on improving ACT scores while fostering a college‑ready mindset.

Key responsibilities

• Deliver ACT prep lessons using CAMP‑provided slide decks and materials.
• Facilitate whole‑class, small‑group, and tiered instruction based on student needs.
• Incorporate test‑taking strategies, pacing techniques, and subject review.
• Monitor engagement, adjust delivery, and maintain a productive learning environment.
• Track attendance and submit required reports on time.
• Collaborate with program staff to address student challenges and celebrate growth.

Required profile

• Strong content knowledge in ACT‑tested subjects (English, Math, Reading, Science).
• Excellent communication and classroom management skills.
• Commitment to student success and educational equity.
• Availability on Wednesdays and/or Fridays 10 am–11 am for the Huntsville area.

Required skills

• Ability to explain concepts clearly and adapt instruction for varying skill levels.
• Experience teaching or tutoring high‑school students (preferred).
• Pursuing or completed Bachelor’s degree (preferred).
