Accountant - Upward Mobility Program

About the role

The State of Illinois, Department of Financial and Professional Regulation, is hiring one Accountant for its Upward Mobility Program in Springfield. The position is full time, salaried, Monday to Friday 8:30am to 5:00pm, with anticipated hybrid work and a requirement to report to headquarters as needed depending on operational need. It is a union position.

Key responsibilities

• Under general supervision, perform professional accounting work on the preparation, maintenance and reconciliation of revenue ledgers for agency funds.
• Use accounting systems and source documentation to prepare, examine, reconcile and analyze refunds and credits.
• Maintain a complete set of general account books by fund for the license area.
• Prepare and reconcile daily manual deposits.
• Answer accounts receivable inquiries from management, auditors and licensees.
• Analyze and evaluate the operational side of Accounts Receivable on an ongoing basis to update its effectiveness.

Required profile

• Applicants must be currently authorized to work in the United States on a full-time basis; the state does not sponsor employment visas.
• Bilingual skills are welcome.
