Accountant, Technology Controllership

About the role

Mastercard is seeking an Accountant to join its Technology Controllership team. The role focuses on ensuring the integrity and accuracy of financial reporting for technology spend, supporting month‑end close, audit readiness, and continuous process improvement.

Key responsibilities

• Support accounting and reporting activities to comply with corporate policies, US GAAP, SEC reporting, SOX and internal controls.
• Partner with GBSC, Finance/FP&A and stakeholders during month‑end close to review technology‑related balances, reconciliations, journal entries and capital project documentation.
• Manage procure‑to‑pay, capital governance and accounting operations, including intake completeness, OPEX vs CAPEX analysis, amortization, depreciation monitoring and disposals.
• Analyze technology contracts, cloud/SaaS costs, software licensing and long‑lived assets, documenting accounting considerations and escalating complex judgments.
• Prepare monthly financial results, resolve inquiries, and support business cases, models and ad‑hoc reporting.
• Identify process gaps and drive improvements using data analytics, AI and automation.

Required profile

• Strong understanding of corporate accounting policies, US GAAP and SEC reporting requirements.
• Experience with month‑end close, journal entries, reconciliations and audit documentation.
• Ability to work cross‑functionally with finance, technology and business teams.
• Analytical mindset with a focus on process improvement and control environment.

Required skills

• Knowledge of US GAAP, SOX compliance and internal controls.
• Familiarity with financial reporting, audit readiness and capital governance.
• Experience with data analytics, AI or automation tools for process improvement.
