Accountant – New York City Police Pension Fund

About the role

The Accounting unit of the New York City Police Pension Fund seeks a dedicated Accountant to support accounts payable, financial reporting, and investment‑related controls. Working under the Director of Accounting, you will help ensure the Fund complies with governing accounting standards while delivering accurate financial information.

Key responsibilities

• Prepare and reconcile monthly and annual financial reports.
• Perform all accounts payable duties and enter journal entries in the accounting system.
• Maintain investment statements, prepare investment reports, and analyze data quality.
• Conduct audit procedures, participate in the annual audit, and address audit requests.
• Monitor cash balances, recommend investment of fund assets, and manage cash needs.
• Investigate and resolve variances in financial reports.
• Assist in developing policies and procedures to improve workflow.
• Support special and ad‑hoc projects as assigned by the Unit Supervisor and CFO.

Required profile

• Permanent or civil‑service eligible candidate (Staff Analyst Trainee title or 55‑a program).
• Ability to work onsite full‑time, 9:00 AM – 5:00 PM, with potential for telework after training.
• Strong analytical and numerical skills with attention to detail.
• Effective communication skills for presenting reports to management.
