Accountant 1 – Travel Section Support

About the role
The University’s Comptroller Office is looking for an Accountant 1 to support its travel section. The role focuses on processing travel‑related business, ensuring compliance with state travel policies, and acting as the liaison between travelers and vendors.
Key responsibilities
- Audit and approve travel documentation (airfare, lodging, rentals, registrations) before payment.
- Maintain CBA account records and prepare the CBA schedule.
- Reconcile CBA transactions to the monthly Bank of America statement and journalize charges.
- Serve as the university’s travel agent, coordinating with hotels, airlines, car‑rental agencies, and state travel agents.
- Upload and scan required documentation into the Bank of America “Works” system.
- Review travel reimbursements and advances for accuracy and policy compliance.
Required profile
- Three years of experience in accounting, auditing, financial operations, payroll, or banking, OR six years of full‑time experience plus 24 semester hours in accounting, OR a bachelor’s degree with 24 semester hours in accounting.
- Possession of a CPA license is acceptable.
- Ability to interpret and enforce state travel office guidelines.
Required skills
- Proficiency with CBA cardholder processes.
- Experience using Bank of America “Works” system for transaction uploads.
