Account Executive – Higher Education Communications

About the role

BerlinRosen’s Higher Education team is looking for an Account Executive to manage daily client relations, drive media pitching, and support strategic communications for colleges and universities. The role blends project execution with strategic thinking, working closely with senior leaders and junior staff.

Key responsibilities

• Develop and execute media relations pitches, build media lists, and maintain reporter relationships.
• Support strategy creation with creative ideas across owned, paid, and earned channels.
• Manage day‑to‑day client deliverables, coordinate workstreams, and ensure team alignment.
• Oversee media monitoring, rapid response, and reporting on coverage.
• Write and edit external and internal materials such as strategy decks, op‑eds, and web copy.

Required profile

• 2–3 years of communications experience in‑house, agency, nonprofit, or higher‑education settings.
• Strong interest in the higher‑education landscape and ability to handle multiple assignments in a fast‑paced environment.
• Demonstrated relationships with reporters and a keen news sense.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

Required skills

• Proficiency with Google suite.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office suite.
