About the role
The Academic Advisor in the D’Amore‑McKim School of Business provides student‑centered support and guidance to undergraduate business majors, helping them navigate college policies, course selection, registration and co‑op scheduling. The role focuses on enhancing student engagement, academic progression and retention while maintaining confidentiality and compliance with ADA, FERPA, SEVIS and other regulations.
Key responsibilities
- Manage an assigned caseload of students, advising on course planning, preregistration, registration and co‑op opportunities.
- Serve as a liaison among students, parents, faculty, staff and university administrators to support academic success.
- Participate in new‑student orientation, recruitment activities and special events hosted by the Undergraduate Programs Office.
- Support and facilitate workshops and events that contribute to the overall student experience, including occasional evenings and weekends.
Required profile
- Master’s degree (counseling, human services, higher education or equivalent experience).
- 3–4 years of relevant experience, preferably in higher‑education advising.
- Excellent written and oral communication skills, public‑speaking ability and detail‑orientation.
- Ability to remain calm under pressure, manage multiple tasks and maintain confidentiality.
Required skills
- Proficiency with Excel and Word.
- Experience with Course Catalog, Degree Audit Reporting System (DARS), Workday, Salesforce and EAB Navigate.
