The Academic Advisor I works under general supervision to recruit and guide undergraduate students at East Texas A&M University. The role focuses on helping students understand academic requirements, plan their courses, and achieve their career goals.

Key responsibilities

• Provide academic advice on degree programs, course schedules, and curriculum planning.
• Assist students with adds/drops, withdrawals, and curriculum changes.
• Review academic records and test scores to ensure appropriate course placement.
• Contribute input on probationary status decisions.
• Refer students to university resources that address academic or personal challenges.
• Support recruitment efforts and may supervise student projects.

Required profile

• Works under general supervision in an academic advising capacity.
• Strong knowledge of university policies, degree requirements, and student support services.
• Effective communication skills for interacting with students, faculty, and staff.
