Academic Advisor for College of Professional Studies

About the role

The Academic Advisor supports learners in bachelor’s completion and graduate/professional programs across Northeastern’s global network. Reporting to the Associate Director of Academic Advising, the role focuses on comprehensive advising, student success, and continuous improvement of advising practices.

Key responsibilities

• Manage an active caseload from admission through program completion, monitoring progress and providing guidance via multiple communication channels.
• Advise students on academic planning, experiential learning, and professional development while enforcing institutional policies.
• Design and deliver workshops, webinars, and other programs to enhance the student experience.
• Maintain accurate records in Salesforce or Navigate, track engagement metrics, and report on persistence, retention, and graduation data.
• Process official paperwork such as major changes, transfer credits, petitions, and graduation requests.

Required profile

• Strong commitment to student advocacy and ability to enforce university policies.
• Experience managing student caseloads and supporting academic persistence and recovery.
• Ability to collaborate with campus offices and professional associations.

Required skills

• Proficiency with Salesforce or Navigate student information systems.
• Data collection, analysis, and reporting skills.
