Academic Advisor for College of Engineering

About the role

The Academic Advisor supports undergraduate students in the College of Engineering throughout their academic journey, from orientation to degree conferral. The role involves guiding students on course planning, registration, and navigating university policies.

Key responsibilities

• Provide academic advising to all engineering undergraduates, interpreting college and university policies.
• Assist with schedule planning, registration, add/drop, and withdrawal processes.
• Monitor student progress, conduct term‑time academic reviews, and intervene for students in difficulty.
• Verify degree requirements completion and conduct pre‑graduation clearance reviews.
• Serve as liaison between students, faculty, and cooperative education coordinators, referring students to campus support services.
• Participate in orientation sessions, welcome week events, graduation ceremonies, and facilitate advising workshops.
• Support assessment of advising programs and contribute to committee work and professional development.

Required profile

• Master's degree in Higher Education or a related field.
• Previous experience in higher‑education advising preferred.
• Strong communication, organizational, and analytical abilities.
• Ability to work independently, take initiative, and pay close attention to detail.

Required skills

• Proficiency with Microsoft Office.
• Familiarity with Salesforce.
• Experience using degree audit programs.
