1st Shift Programming Supervisor

About the role

The Oskaloosa plant includes iron and brass foundries, a machine shop, assembly, finished goods warehousing, shipping and administrative offices, and offers products complying with Made in the USA requirements. The Programming Supervisor oversees the programming department, develops team capabilities and implements programming strategies that improve manufacturing efficiency, reduce errors, support new product introductions and drive continuous improvement in the machine shop.

Key responsibilities

• Oversee all CNC programming activities, collaborate with Engineering and Operations on machining strategies, and review and approve CNC programs, tooling, work holding and machining processes
• Maintain programming standards, tool libraries and best practices, and create and maintain CNC setup sheets
• Lead the programming team day to day, prioritize workloads, assign resources and partner with production teams to resolve manufacturing issues
• Monitor key performance indicators and lead continuous improvement in processes, tooling, automation and machining costs
• Mentor the team, set development plans, give performance feedback, promote cross-training, run CNC premium tests and documentations, and facilitate the apprentice program

Required profile

• High school diploma or GED and 5 years of machine programming experience
• Preferred: proven technical/vocational training in CNC Machining, Precision Machining Technology or Manufacturing Technology with 5 years of advanced manufacturing experience

Required skills

• CNC programming and strong problem-solving skills
• Knowledge of proper tooling with correct feeds and speeds
• CAD/CAM software experience (SolidWorks/Mastercam preferred)
• Multi-axis machine experience preferred
• Knowledge of Fanuc robot operations and programming
