Wildlife Damage Management Technician

About the role

The Texas A&M AgriLife Extension Service’s Wildlife Services program seeks a Wildlife Damage Management Technician to protect agricultural, industrial and natural resources by managing wildlife‑related damage. This onsite position in Canyon, Texas involves field work, data collection and collaboration with landowners.

Key responsibilities

• Conduct wildlife damage management using traps, snares, chemicals, firearms and related equipment.
• Inspect livestock and poultry facilities for disease vectors and record observations in the agency database.
• Obtain landowner agreements, set baits and lures, and maintain control devices according to SOPs.
• Maintain and repair tools, manage pesticide records, and ensure compliance with local, state and federal regulations.
• Participate in aerial hunting as a gunner or ground crew member and report activities to the District Supervisor.

Required profile

• High school diploma or GED with farm or ranch background.
• Valid driver’s license and ability to travel as needed.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

Required skills

• Use of traps, snares and firearms for wildlife control.
• Handling of chemicals and pesticides, including record‑keeping.
• Operation of GPS devices for locating control sites.
• Data entry and basic computer proficiency.
