Welding Engineer

About the role

The Welding Engineer will develop and improve manufacturing weld processes and tooling for existing products, support new product launches, and lead training for welding personnel. This role drives continuous improvement for both manual and robotic welding applications to meet quality, efficiency, and production goals.

Key responsibilities

• Lead continuous improvement initiatives for manual and robotic welding processes.
• Develop and maintain Welding Procedure Specifications (WPS), manufacturing procedures, and work instructions.
• Manage WPS documentation for W&C Suspensions products.
• Select, procure, and implement welding equipment, machines, and consumables.
• Create training materials and conduct training for welding staff.
• Collaborate with R&D engineering during product design and testing.
• Provide technical guidance on manufacturing processes, equipment needs, and plant planning.
• Analyze performance data to set standards for new or modified equipment and processes.
• Recommend and implement process improvements to reduce cost and enhance quality.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Engineering (Welding Engineering preferred).
• 8+ years of experience in manufacturing or weld engineering.
• Hands‑on experience with MIG and pulse welding.
• Strong ability to read engineering drawings, GD&T, and weld symbols.
• AWS Certified Welding Inspector (or ability to obtain within six months) is preferred.

Required skills

• Welding standards knowledge, especially AWS D1.1.
• Experience with SolidWorks CAD, WeldPro CAD.
• FANUC robotic welding system expertise.
• Robotic systems, metal fabrication, and arc welding training.
