Web Developer / Web Accessibility Specialist

About the role

We are looking for a detail‑oriented Web Developer and Web Accessibility Specialist to join our Office of Strategic Communications / Digital Services team. You will help audit, remediate, and maintain web content and digital assets to ensure compliance with ADA Title II, WCAG 2.1 AA/2.2, and Section 508 standards.

Key responsibilities

• Perform manual and automated accessibility audits on public websites, portals, and web applications using tools such as Siteimprove.
• Remediate non‑compliant HTML, CSS, JavaScript, interactive tools, PDFs, videos, forms, graphics, and GIS maps to meet WCAG 2.1 AA and Section 508 requirements.
• Manage and update SharePoint pages, custom web parts, templates, and CSS/JS integrations while applying proper ARIA roles and semantic HTML.
• Collaborate with content creators, IT staff, and third‑party vendors to enforce accessibility best practices.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, IT, Web Development, Graphic/Digital Design, or equivalent practical experience.
• 2+ years of professional experience as a Webmaster, Front‑End Developer, or Web Accessibility Specialist.

Required skills

• Hands‑on experience with Microsoft SharePoint (Online and Server).
• Strong front‑end development skills: HTML5, CSS3, JavaScript, responsive design.
• Knowledge of accessibility standards: ADA Title II, WCAG 2.1/2.2 AA, WAI‑ARIA, Section 508.
• Experience with PDF remediation tools (Adobe Acrobat Pro DC) and creating accessible documents in Microsoft Office.
