About the role

The Water Fitness Instructor delivers engaging water aerobics classes, ensures participant safety, and supports a positive fitness environment under the Aquatics Director.

Key responsibilities

Teach scheduled classes on time, providing warm‑up, exercise, stretching, and cool‑down segments.
Demonstrate proper techniques, explain muscle group focus, and answer participant questions.
Prepare equipment, music, handouts, and manage lane line setup for class space.
Monitor pool activities, report facility needs, and adhere to safety and policy standards.

Required profile

Certified Instructor (AEA, ACE, AFAA) – water specialty preferred.
Current Red Cross Lifeguard certification and CPR/First Aid preferred.
Working knowledge of human anatomy, kinesiology, and training principles.

Required skills

Water aerobics teaching strategies, including music tempo, cueing, and rhythm.
Choreography and music selection abilities.
Ability to project voice over pool noise and motivate participants.
