Traveling Wind Turbine Technician

About the role

The Field Service Department at NGC seeks a Traveling Wind Turbine Technician to support warranty claims and mechanical repairs on wind gear drives across the United States. The position involves extensive travel, climbing turbines up to 300 ft, and working in varied weather conditions.

Key responsibilities

• Travel nationwide, often staying on site for up to six weeks at a time.
• Perform mechanical troubleshooting, repair, removal and installation of wind turbine gearboxes (main, pitch, yaw).
• Read and interpret mechanical drawings and schematics.
• Maintain accurate inventory of tools, safety equipment, consumables, and parts.
• Complete daily, weekly and monthly reports, inspections, and time entries.

Required profile

• High school diploma; mechanical trade knowledge preferred.
• Valid driver’s license and ability to obtain a passport.
• Ability to lift/move up to 100 lb and perform tower‑to‑ground rescues quickly.
• Willingness to work overtime, weekends and in extreme weather.

Required skills

• Strong mechanical background with wind gearboxes.
• Proficiency in reading mechanical drawings and schematics.
• Experience with Microsoft Office, Salesforce and iAuditor.
