Traveling Superintendent – Heavy Industrial Projects

About the role

Big-D Heavy Industrial is seeking an experienced Traveling Superintendent to lead on‑site teams across multiple heavy‑industrial projects. You will be the primary point of contact for clients, subcontractors, and city officials, ensuring safety, quality, schedule, and budget objectives are met.

Key responsibilities

• Manage safety, quality, schedule, production, logistics and coordination on each project site.
• Represent the company in client meetings and interface with all project stakeholders.
• Coordinate and direct subcontractors and vendors, verifying completion of assigned scopes.
• Establish project goals with the team and develop accountability measures.
• Oversee productivity of crafts, efficient use of materials and equipment, and contractual performance.
• Work with city officials to request and coordinate inspections from day one.
• Maintain detailed records of work orders, budgets, change orders, safety standards, plans, specifications, shop drawings, submittals, and CPM schedules.

Required profile

• 7‑10 years of experience as a superintendent on heavy‑industrial construction projects.
• Strong leadership and team‑management abilities.
• Excellent communication skills with clients, subcontractors, vendors, inspectors, and internal teams.
• Thorough understanding of construction practices, local/state/federal building codes, and cost‑control methods.
• Highly organized, detail‑oriented, and able to prioritize multiple tasks.

Required skills

• Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Word, and Outlook.
• Experience with Procore construction management software.
• Knowledge of Primavera P6 (P6) scheduling tool.
