About the role
The Transplant Organ Procurement Coordinator (TPC) is a medical professional who manages organ offers, donor‑recipient matching, and coordination of solid organ transplant activities. Working closely with transplant surgeons, the local Organ Procurement Organization (Gift of Life), UNOS, and the transplant team, the TPC ensures compliance with all regulatory standards.
Key responsibilities
- Manage on‑call organ offers, assess candidate suitability, and coordinate deceased donor transplants.
- Serve as second‑call for DonorNet offers, provide backup coverage, and communicate details to recipients.
- Document all activities in electronic medical records and regulatory portals.
- Collaborate with GOL, other OPOs, UNOS, and participate in multidisciplinary meetings and quality initiatives.
Required profile
- Technical School Diploma or LPN program; RN, Paramedic, or Bachelor’s degree preferred.
- At least 1 year of healthcare experience, preferably in transplant, HLA, or organ procurement.
- State of Pennsylvania licensure (LPN, RN, or ABTC) upon hire.
- Physical ability to lift 25 lb and perform typical patient‑care activities.
Required skills
- Computer proficiency with Electronic Medical Record systems and Microsoft Office.
- Experience using UNOS and HLA databases.
- Certifications such as CCTC, ABTC, CPTC, or CTP are advantageous.
